We have detected an increased level of organic carbon.
This can have the following disadvantages for your aquarium:
- May increase the chances of Cyanobacteria
- Can cause bacterial blooms (lack of oxygen)
- Can promote diseases
If you use vodka, acetic acid or other carbon sources:
1. Reduce the dosage
2. Consider alternate carbon source
3. Try to better adjust your dose to avoid adverse effects.

We have detected an increased level of inorganic carbon which indicates a high Carbonate Hardness (KH).
Please check your carbonate hardness (KH) measurement and reduce your dosage if desired.
An increased carbonate hardness (KH) value can have the following effects:
- Precipitation in the aquarium (wastage of calcium and alkalinity)
- Accelerated calcification of pumps and plumbing, reduction of efficiency.
- Improved pH stability
How you proceed should depend on your current situation. Please contact us for further support on hello@triton.de
We have detected a high level of Nitrogen.
This can have the following disadvantages for your aquarium:
- May increase the chances of Cyanobacteria
- May favour nuisance algae growth
- Can lead to darkening of coral colours
If you use the TRITON method:
1. Increase the photoperiod over the algae refugium (do not exceed 14 hours illumination), check performance of algae light (we recommend T5 lighting)
2. If you are not yet using TRITON BioBase and your TOC is in the lower range, you can start with the dosage
3. There is a fundamental error in your system structure. Please contact the support at hello@triton.de so that we can help you immediately.
If you use a different system:
Consider revising your chosen filtration method.

In addition to your inorganic supply of Calcium, Magnesium and Carbonate Hardness, you can also dose BioBase.

We have detected an increased level of Organic Carbon.
However, because you have a problem with Cyanobacteria in your aquarium we do not recommend that you use BioBase or any individual trace element adjusts.
Depending on the type of organic carbon, this may be the trigger for the problem with
Avoid antibiotics and other “Miracle cures” as they will not resolve to core issue.
If possible, reduce the temperature of your aquarium to 24 degrees.
If you use vodka, acetic acid or other carbon sources:
1. Reduce the dosage
2. Consider alternate carbon source
3. Try to better adjust your dose to avoid adverse effects.
4. We recommend carrying out water changes with a recommended salt such as Red Sea Salt. 15% every week for 6 weeks, total 6x 15%. Try to remove Cyanobacteria while completing the water changes.

- Can cause bacterial blooms (lack of oxygen)
- Can promote diseases
If you use BioBase:
1. Halve the existing dosage
